Installing laminate flooring is not as difficult as it may seem at first glance. However, there are a few simple things that you must know before beginning to lay the laminates. In order to install the laminate boards correctly, you need to first prep the subfloor of the room in which you wish to install the laminate flooring. The subfloor must be absolutely clean and dry before you begin laying your laminates.

How to Installing Laminate Flooring?

When installing laminate flooring, you must make sure that the baseboards, or planks that the boards slide onto, are completely clean and dry. You should also make sure that the nails that you use are flush against the floor. To keep your new flooring in place, you will need to purchase Brad nails at a hardware store and use these in your new baseboards to hold them in place. When installing laminate flooring over existing baseboards, you will have to make sure that the new flooring is flush with the top surface.

One of the most common mistakes made when installing laminate flooring over wood subfloors is installing the planks too close together. If the planks are installed too close together, they will squeeze the wood underneath out of place and cause the subfloor to swell. This can damage your subfloors and your walls. Another mistake that people make when installing over concrete is when putting the laminate over old concrete baseboards. Most people will put the new flooring on top of an old concrete floor and believe that the floor will adhere to the new baseboard.
